1999 LHS Electrical Problem possibly?
Hi all,
Our family owns a 1999 Chrysler LHS --- great car, however things have been happening that we are a bit unsure of, and now, we're broke down in our driveway. Here is what has happened. Sometimes, while driving, the interior lights will flicker on and off, which wasn't that big an of an issue. Shortly after, though, after driving and parking for maybe 20 minutes, to start back up was a rough idle for about 5 minutes before it would stay at a reasonable RPM.
This past weekend, we parked it in our driveway, and as we went to leave I put my key in the ignition and the horn honked as I turned the car to the 'on' position. (I later called our local Chrysler dealership and they stated that it would not be a key problem, like a keyfob or chip issue but more of an electrical shortage.) Then, as I tried to start the car, it turns over, but doesn't fully start. The radio, anti-theft system, windows, power-door locks and the roof navigation display do not work, however certain things like the sunroof or the AC console will work.
The timing belt was replaced about three months ago if that has anything to do with it. Brand new battery and new radiator as well. As I was inspecting the fuse panel under the hood (close to the front, drivers side) I see two small cracks in the housing but it doesn't look as if it would be something causing this.
Would this be a faulty ground cable or possibly something else that one might could lead me to? I can upload a video to YouTube and post the link here if someone might could point me in the right direction...
Thanks in advance.

Chrysler LH cars are touchy when it comes to electrics.
Common issue to have the gremllins you describe with no codes.
Even though the battery is "new" disassemble and clean the following connections:
Both battery terminals, jump post connections, (terminal block near the air cleaner), ground connection a the strut tower, battery supply to the Power Center (under hood fuse panel). Check the ground straps from both valve covers to the body.
These simple tasks have solved a lot electrical gremlins for many folks.
Cracks in the electrical panel? Look fo any signs of corrosion or "green crud" connectors, relay terminals etc.
Inside lights flickering aka "the light show" could be as simple as rolling the dash light dimmer up and down a few times.

The codes that it reads are1689 (high speed fan relay sensor) or something and the other (I think) is P1409. I cannot remember the exact 2nd number that it reads but I know for certain I have looked them up -- one is the high speed fan relay or something and the other is the battery unplugged within last 50 start-ups.

Thanks for your input! I'm going to check all of them and clean those out. Oddly enough I still wonder why when I immediately turn the key the horn blows since this all started happening. Could this be apart of those gremlins you're mentioning?

Well the codes in the computer were those same 2 --- nothing else changed. Tracked down the majority of the wires, and came across one small fuse in the fuse panel labeled "interior light" or something. Small 10amp fuse I think. Replaced that one and the radio works again! The car still won't start though --- almost as if it's like a fuse with my fuel pump or something. Now I'm not so sure...
