Default 300m: Front subframe isolator bushings (anyone ever replace them?)

The service manual doesn't go into any detail as to how to replace the subframe isolator bushings. These bushings are now near the top of my list to solve a front-end knocking sound or feeling that I get from the front wheels when driving over anything other than perfectly-flat, seemless roads.

There are 4 of these isolator bushings on the front of the car, and around here they seem to be a dealer-only part. There is a left and right front, and left and right rear bushing (the fronts and rears being separate P/N's). Each bushing has an upper and lower part. And to make things more complicated, all of these seem to come in 2 flavors - standard (or touring?) and performance (PHP?).

The dealer price for these parts range from $20 to $80 (for either an upper or lower bushing for either front or rear for either standard or php).

What I want to know is - are these replaceable using just a jack and stands - ie - can they be replaced if you don't have a hoist or lift?

For some of these parts, the php version is cheaper than the standard version - but I'd hate to save $20 or $40 to put in a lower bushing and get a spine-rattling ride as a result).

These are Canadian prices - how much are these bushings at US dealers?

Are there any aftermarket versions?

Of more concern to me right now is the fact that it's very likely that I'll break off the nuts welded to the frame. According to some threads on the LH forum, the remedy seems to be that you need to fix that by welding some new nuts and maybe some extra plates to frame.

I'd like some clarification as to why you can't simply use a regular nut, with lockwasher and maybe a thin plate or a big washer for the bolt to screw into if you break the original nut from the frame.

"Nuts" are boxed in the unibody and not accessable without cutting an opening or slot.
I have not yet personally done this job on a Chrysler.
I did a similar job on an GM in the past and was able to hole saw an opening from above to install a large washer & nut in place...
