95 Concorde Tranny Issues
I recently bought a 1995 Concorde from a used car lot. It has c. 111000 miles on it. The transmission seems to take a long time to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. It does not feel like it is slipping, it just feels like it can't find the right gear, like its lost.
I checked the MIL code and came back with a code of 34 Speed Control Solenoid Circuits; or Speed Control Switch Always Low An open or shorted condition detected in the Speed Control vacuum or vent solenoid circuits; or Speed Control input below the minimum acceptable voltage.
I also checked the transmission fluid (checked hot in neutral) and it was a bit low so I added Lucas ATF to it. (Upon further research I see adding new ATF with new detergents to such an old transmission may not be a good thing.) This was a few days ago and today I checked underneath my car to see that is was leaking.
I was thinking about changing or flushing the transmission fluid and changing the gasket and filter. But I don't know if this is the right thing to do without knowing if it has been done before. I've alreadly looked into this quite a bit and the answers vary completely about whether or not to change the fluid.
I want to know if I should change the fluid, flush the fluid or just cry in a corner about a rebuild. And what to do about the MIL code I suspect just change out one of the sensors? If so which one (input or output?)
