Default Can outer boot on transaxle be replaced? - '99 300M

The outer boot on trans-axle (front, left) is torn, some of the internal grease has leaked. Is it possible to replace only the rubber boot? If so, how laborious would it be?

Default boot replacement

you could get a split boot and put that on. It will work for a little while, I've never really had very much luck with them. I normally remove the half shaft (axle) and replace the boot..

How much labor to remove the axle and replace the boot?

You have to disconnect the ball joints and remove the steering knuckle. It's a big job.
