Computer upgrade for obd-II
Question to the fellow gearheads.
I have a 1995 New Yorker, very happy with it, no issues per se. However I would like to be able to have more in the way of diagnostics and readouts. I have a decent code computer as well as a cable that runs to a laptop via USB and gives me readouts that way as well (all for obd II however).
As the 96 model of my car renamed the LHS has almost identical (the computer (odb) port itself etc notwithstanding) wiring the swap should be relatively easy and the local pull a part has a couple cars that died from their owners putting them into ditches or maybe a telephone pole. I have cheap access to computers with what I want.
The question becomes is it worth it? I've pulled engines, rebuilt carbs (I loved that lemans till the day it threw a piston rod) etc. I've never had anyone else ever touch a vehicle I owned (aside from my father when I was young) all my work has always been me.
My training is as a computer technician. All around gearhead is a side effect of it. The ability todo this is the easy part.
