Default 03 Sebring LXI cranks, won't fire

I'm new here and have a couple of problems I need resolved. This is a convertible with the 2.7L Flex fuel motor. About 98000 miles.

#1. The engine cranks fine but will not fire. I pulled the plugs, they were old and dry. New ones installed. It has fault code P1684, only that code. First instinct was to replace the fuel pump. As I was preparing to remove the tank, I pulled a fuel line loose, it popped off with pressurized fuel spraying out. This was a bare steel line with a clip on hose end near the left rear corner of the tank, and runs to the front. I put the hose back together and tried the key to listen for the pump. I hear it every time the key is turned on. I've swapped the ASD relay. It is my guess that the dry plugs means no fuel being injected. The engine sputtered at stops a little prior to completely dying.

#2. Intermittent Airbag warning. I'm not sure where to go to figure this one out.

If the cam and crank sensors are not in sync, you will get no fire. Does it sound different than it used to when you crank it? Trying to diagnose a no-start without any diagnostic tools is a futile effort. Ever since computers started appearing on cars it has been.

You need the airbag scanned to know what is causing the light to come on.

Sounds the same. How would the two sensor get out of sync?

Update. Installed new crank and cam position sensors, no change.
