Default '05 Sebring Door Panel Removal

I have a 2005 Sebring convertible that has a very annoying rattle inside the driver side door. The rattle is located very high inside the door, in the rear-most part, as in over my left shoulder as I'm sitting in the driver seat.

Does anyone know the correct procedure for removing the door panel so I can get inside the door to find the source of the rattle?

Thanks!

This has been discussed many times here. Do an advanced search for "door trim panel" in the Sebring forum. The basic procedure is unchanged through many model years so the 1998 discussion should work. When you have removed all the fasteners, be certain to lift the panel UP from the door. Do not pry the top edge OUT from the door.

That rattle might be the rod that connects the lock button to the lock mechanism. (Might not be, too). There's supposed to be a clip that guides it, and the clip may be broken/missing. Hunt for it in the door. If you can't find it, it's a very inexpensive part to buy from the dealer.

Thanks, dcotter0579 for that tip! That sounds very much like that could be it. I'll check.

Question 2005 Sebring door panel removal

I get all fasteners off (i think) and the panel seems willing to release until I get near the area where the mirror controls go through and I can't seem to get an easy release, I realize it wasn't designed to be yanked off so I quit and refasten. Also is there any way to tell if a car came with remote entry, it's a 2005 sebring touring with lots of options but no "popper" to open the doors or trunk (bought is used), I can't believe it doesn't have remote entry but I have no way of telling. The lock cylinder fell into the door so the only way to get into locked car is now through the trunk, needless to say it's not locked.

Have you removed the little panel that covers the triangular projection at the top front of the door? On some models there's a speaker in there. As I recall, the cover pops off.

Take your VIN to your local Chrysler dealer and talk to the guy in the parts department. He can look up your car and tell you all the options it had when built.

Or you can call or email your local dealer and supply them with the VIN number. I'm 99.99% sure your vehicle has remote entry. I had the same issue when I bought my 2002 Sebring LXI back in November which came with no remote entry transmitters. I emailed the dealer and within 24 hours they responded that it had remote entry. They wanted about $190.00 for a new remote entry device plus programming.

I asked how much if I supplied the remote entry devices. They charged my $29.00 to program two devices which I bought off ebay (used) for $11.00 each....Works great!
