Default 1999 Chrysler Sebring JXi Convertable

Been trying to find out if I am covered to get any reinbursments for replacing my Fuel pump.I understand there where recalls on this mode for safety.I have been having some problems as to the pump doing odd things on its own as to show full then show empty after I have had car refilled. After it got down to about half tank then would stop till filled back again.
Finally I decide to spent the $500.00 to have it replaced.I did not know it was going to be that much to do the job till it was done. The mechanic showed me that the unit had several burn marks at different connections on pump and harness. This could have been a fatality in a short time if it was left unattended. I need help on how to get answers and if I am entitled to getting some of my monies back. Thanks for any help here.
I am not original owner also.Just bought it a month ago.

Your Chrysler dealer should have all TSB and Recall information concerning you car. Stop by and chat with them.
