1999 Sebring JXI. New owner looking for info.
Hi everybody.
I just recently purchased an extremely well cared for 99 Sebring Convertible with 93,933 original miles. It was originally an Arizona car that made its way up here to Edmonton, Alberta. I absolutely LOVE driving the car and would love to keep on doing so for a long time. And, to that end, I'd like to learn more about the car.
First, about the timing belt. It is a 2.5 V6 and runs minty. I have not yet taken a belt cover off to visually inspect but I plan to very soon. What is the recommended replacement interval? I know that it is NOT a free wheeling engine so I know how disastrous a broken belt would be. But it looks like a major undertaking on these cars. I have done it on a 94 Concorde 3.5 and it wasn't too bad at all on THAT car. That one left me walking but at least it was a free wheeling engine. Any secrets to making this job easier?
Any other things I need to worry about on these cars?
Thank you all in advance. :-)

A good investment would be a shop manual for the car. If you can't find a set of factory shop manuals on eBay, the Haynes manual isn't bad. It covers several models so some of it won't pertain to your car at all.
The distributor on that engine is kind of notorious for causing problems, which you'll probably notice if you spend some time browsing the forum here.
