2001 engine sebring Problem
I have a 2001 2.7 sebring. the engine is bad imagine that. My question, To replace the motor Ineed to use a 2001-2004 2.7 engine. the 2004 there was a mid year engine change. The difference is the knock sensor and the fly wheel?
But i have read that a 2005 sebring2.7 can have a 2004- 2006 2.7 engine put in.
CAN A 2006 2.7 BE PUT INTO A 2001? of coarse I know there will be some changes. Has any one done this and what are the differences?

RE: 2001 engine sebring Problem
I put a 2004 in a 2001 but and I had to change the upper intake rear exhaust manifold because the 01 has and egr and the 04 does not. On the front camshaft there is a camring that the cam sensor picks up on. That has to be changed. The engine harness, and the flywheel. I posted all of this acouple of weeks ago. The car runs great but I get two engine codes P0172 and P0175. Bank1 and Bank 2 to rich. I did some research and the injectors are a differant part # from the 01 to the 04. So maybe it is over fueling. I really havent had time to check it out. Well good luck . Email me when and let me know how you make out. rjasp2000@yahoo.comThe reason for the changing of the flywheel and the cam ring sensor is because the 01 has the sbec controller and the 04 has the ngc contoller. The 01 has two forty pin connectors and the 04 has four thiry eight pin connectors. good luck Russ
