Default 2001 Sebring Audio System

My 2001 convertible's audio system stopped working. The clock is stuck on 12:00 and the equalizer lights flash. The radio won't turn on and the radio on/off volume now spins all the way around. The 4 disk CD player below the radio will accept a CD but it won't play. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

01 SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. DID SOME BDOY WORK, USED A STUD GUN TO PULL A DENT, NOW THE STEREO DOESNT WORK. THE TWO LEFT HAND EQUALIZER LIGHTS FLASH WHEN KEY IS ON, BUT NOTHING ELSE IN STEREO WILL TURN ON AT ALL. WE TRIED THE BATTERY CABLE THING (WE DO THIS ON HONDAS AS WELL) DIDNT CHANGE ANYTHING. GOT ANY CLUES AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. FUSES ARE GOOD. HAVENT PULLED RADIO YET TO CHECK FOR POWER, BUT IT ALMOST HAS TO HAVE, WITH THE LIGHTS FLASHING. WHAT AM I OVERLOOKING?

Would you please suggest how I should touch the battery cables? The battery is in the wheel well of the car. Thanks!
