2001 sebring convertable coolent fans
#11
Ok this is where I am at. I replaced the bleeder housing with a new one. It came with a new sencer, but it did not repair the temp gauge so I cannot say if the fans are coming on, so the next step is replace the gauge cluster, I have seen alot of used one on Ebay cheap, I know a new one is over 500 bucks, so I am leaning towards the used one, now does anyone know if I have to remove the steering wheel or can I do the job with it in place. I don't want to deal with the air bags. any help would be great. Happy New Year and Thanks, Steve

There's no guarantee that replacing the instrument cluster will solve your problem. The system is more complicated than that. The signal from the engine coolant temperature sensor is read by the engine computer and is used by that computer to calculate certain parameters for proper engine operation. The engine computer also sends a signal to the body computer which controls the instrument cluster. So your lack of a reading on the dash might be from a failure in the engine computer, the body computer, the instrument cluster or somewhere in between. Before you throw any more parts at the problem, you might want to consider investing in having a proper diagnosis. Just sayin'.
