Default 2004 Seabring Conv 2.7

Does anyone know how I can verify the engine serial number to the VIN?

Here is the situation;

The engine oil pressure light would come on at idle and after the engine had fully warmed up. I would occasionally check oil level and top off as needed. I figured it was the oil pressure switch going bad as well as a small leak.

About 6 months ago while driving home, the car just died. I had it towed to a shop and they looked at it and discovered that the engine had seized. Paid $5500 to have a rebuilt one put in.

Almost immediately after the new engine was put in I started getting the same light coming on as it did with the old engine.

I would think that a rebuilt engine would include an engine oil pressure switch so it shouldn't be, presumably, the same one that was in the old engine.

I am starting to wonder if the shop actually changed the engine out. I got a pretty iffy feeling about them when I was there.

Comment and questions are welcome and helpful.

Thanks
Eric

man you should of made a mark on the engine to figure that out. Why even bother having it repaired for that amount by a shop you feel anything less than certain about? For that kind of price you probably could of had a dealer do it.

I had it towed at 10p.m. and I was on a plane at 7 a.m. the next morning so I didn't have time to mark it or anything and I was gone for 2 weeks while it was being worked on. I didn't actually go into the shop until the work was done. I relied on a friends recommendation as to which shop to take it to.

I still want to know if there is a way to compare engine serial number to VIN if anyone knows.

Thanks
Eric
