Default 2004 Sebring cam position sensor trouble

I have 2004 Sebring 2.4L sedan. The motor stumbles when accelerating.

The engine light eventually came on, when it did I took it to autozone and had them pull codes, I got one p0340 (errors in the cam position sensor detected is what the printout said)

So I changed the CMP sensor and it didn't fix anything and the engine light is still on.

I took it back to autozone to pull codes and this time I got p0344 (print out said the same thing, detected errors in the CMP sensor)

I visually inspected the harness to the CMP sensor and the wiring and didn't find any loom with holes or shorts etc. I followed it back to the PCM (correct me if I'm wrong, second harness from the left when looking at the harnesses, it had a piece of tape labeled 'A')

There's 22 or so wires in this harness, and didn't know which ones to check for continuity. The CMP sensor has a black/blue, orange(?)/yellow and what looks to be a shielded ground.

Can someone help me with this? What else can cause this code?

0 replies wow is this forum dead?

Took it to a shop and they claim I put the wrong sensor in it. It was a duralast brand I got from autozone which matched their part number for this vehicle.

After some careful research I have found that sometimes sensors of this brand aren't of OE quality and may not work properly even right out of the box.

The shop put a mopar part (OE) in and it fixed the issue.

I am posting this simply incase someone is looking for this same incident.

FYI rule of thumb only use dealer sensors for just that kinda issue.
