I don't know. You should be able to dim with the stock switch. You could wire in a resistor and see if that helps. I noticed mine was a little brighter than what it's supposed to be, but it's not that much of an issue for me.

Look in my guide. There should be a link to an eBay item. Any 12V EL inverter will do.

For Sebring 2007-2009 models the inverter its right on dashboard's PCB. You can't use "any 4 wire 12V brick inverter" to fix it.
Original inverter use specialized Integrated Circuit (Rogers Durel D306) that can't cope with an aged, hence higher load, of the EL panel and fail constantly even replaced with new one !
Here's the post with fix for 2007-2009 model:

Fhadso,
Thank you for your post, worked for me!
I purchased a $13 inverter at Radio shack wired it to the ribbon clip as described, then fed it with the clock light.
Works like a charm, simpler fix than the Romanian guys $85 part. It's an older car, not worried about the purist fix!

The only thing I struggled with was not knowing how the indigo ribbon strip plug un clipped.
I broke one side, but electrical tape wrapped around the block worked fine, one side still locked in place.

Thank you again for sharing !

Well, now that you mentioned my ELD5 inverter that seamlessly repair illumination not only for Sebring 07-09 but also Avenger and Caliber (which doesn't have a "clock light").
It worth saying that the price for an end user might be higher than $85 (but more cheaper and reliable than a new Instrument Cluster) if you choose to sent your instrument cluster to be repaired to one of our US dealer/repair facility Chrysler Sebring | Dodge Caliber | Dodge Avenger Instrument Cluster Light - Fix, Repair Kit: Dealer List but you get years of warranty on repair operation, same as OEM dimming intensity function and no additional wires trough your car.

Of course everyone is getting what its paying for

I have many user who buy ELD5 inverter now, who previously tried this "clock light" and their dashboard looks like a mess ! Because de-soldering of the black socket lead to unwanted vibrations hence fraction of the flexible rubber band !

Here's a user who at least fixed the black socket with glue gun after renouncing to "clock light" and installed ELD5.
So DON'T LEAVE THE BLACK CONNECTOR DANGLING IN THE AIR even you don't want to use my repair procedure which doesn't tampering the black connector at all ! Chrysler Sebring | Dodge Caliber | Dodge Avenger Instrument Cluster Light - Fix, Repair Kit
