2009 Chrysler Sebring 4 Cylinder
2009 Chrysler Sebring 4 cylinder. I recently replaced the alternator since the battery wasn't charging. I also replaced the battery after replacing the alternator. I'm still getting the battery light on instrument panel. I took it to Advanced Auto Parts and was told there's was an open circuit. Today I retightened the connections to the alternator and battery as well, still with no change. Could the open circuit be anywhere else besides the charging system? I had also installed a remote start unit and was working fine till about 3 months ago, replaced the unit at pep boys, plugged in the new unit and it still wouldn't work. could it be that there is a short in the remote start wiring that's causing all this?

Look for a fusible link between the alternator and the starter motor. Not entirely sure about your year/model but they used to put a link in the dark green wire. Feel along the length of the wire. If you come to a spot where it feels like the wire is missing under the insulation, then you've found it. You should be able to find a replacement at a parts store. Cut out the old section and solder in the replacement.
Next time, test the battery and alternator before replacing them.

Ok so I found the fusible link and its still good. Current still passes through. Last night I removed all the wiring to the remote start unit and found out that the wire white/orange on the ignition switch was burned at the spot where I.connected the wire to the remote start. The wiring diagram for the remote start shows that wire to be CanH, a (DATA) cable. Would that be the problem?
