97 Sebring died and wont start
Yesterday I was driving and the car acted like it was running out of gas, it would idle along but anytime I tried to give it throttle it would die. I started it back up and it started to come out of it and ran for about a mile and then did it again and would not start again. I checked for spart and it does have, sprayed some starting fluid in the throttle body and wouldnt fire. I switched the ignition on/off on/off on and got codes #12 and #55, the code 55 I understand is the end of the codes and #12 says battery was disconnected within the last 50 cycles or something to that effect. I do have service manuals and there was nothing in there about the code #12. The car is a 97 coupe with a 2.5. First I did a search and came up with nothing on the code12. I can also hear the fuel pump run when I turn the ignition, I would think it would have atleat fired up with starting fluid. Any ideas what could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 97 Sebring died and wont start
I have a friend with a scanner that he'll let me use and I'll pull the codes. I just pulled the plugs out(front 3) and replaced them, I got the car to start and it idles real nice but as soon as you give it throttle it stumbles and hesitates. I will pull the codes and get back with an update.

RE: 97 Sebring died and wont start
Well, I got no code except the 12 and 55. I replaced the fuel filter and it started up and ran fine for about 10 minutes then it started all over again. It acts like it starving for fuel or flooding out. Replaced spark plugs and intake gaskets and didnt change anything and its getting good spark. Any suggestions where to start? I would like to check the fuel pressure but the car doesnt have a schrader valve and dont have one I can hook up in the fuel line. Could it possibly be the fuel pressure regulator? Any other suggestion? Thanks in advance

I should also mention that it only seem to do it when it warms up really good, but after it dies then it wont start, it acts like it wants too. And after I've been spinning it over and let off the ignition it will cough and sputter...
