97 Sebring LXi Codes P0134 and P0160
I have a 97 Sebring LXi with 168,xxx miles. I am throwing P0134 and P0160 codes. The guy I bought the car from said he had recently replaced the front O2 sensor. Would both of these codes coming at the same time be something other than the sensors? I am going to replace the rear sensor and see if that changes anything. ($93.00, ouch)

RE: 97 Sebring LXi Codes P0134 and P0160
The 97 Sebring Lxi coupe (2.5L, Series "N") has 4 - O2 sensors. 2 in each bank. They are erroneously labled "before" and "after" the converter. In actuality all 4 sensors are before the converter. The 2 closest to the cylinders are the "before" pair, and the 2 closest to the converter are the "after" pair. They are different pairs of parts. Physical locations on the front bank exhaust are both under the vehicle on the passenger side. On the back bank they are, one above the other, behind and below the motor.
So, you thought 93.00 was bad, try it about 4 times. Also, I found the sensors at Autozone for less than that. I have replaced all 4 within the last year.

Sorry. I forgot to address this. Yes, the two codes you mention are from O2 sensors. It is likely they need replaced. (Yes, all 4 is the easiest, but maybe you can buy one "after" model and try it in 2 after locations. See if all is well with just the single replacement. Also, the first one I would replace would be the "after" sensor on the back bank behind and below the motor.)
Oh, and has anyone complained about not being able to get your arm under the car without putting it up on stands or a hoist?

hi wickman, before you go replacing all the sensors check for water in the connectors leading to the troubled 02 sensors.shake the wires see if water droplets come out.doesn't take much.moe
