Default 97 Sebring LXI electric seat

I just bought a 97 Sebring LXI, 59,000 miles The gear on thr electric seat broke and now it won't go forward or reverse. The drive cable works, so the motor seems good. I called the dealer and I couldn't believe what I heard. He said that no gear was available and the I need to buy the entire assembly that has all the motors and everything. Does anybody know how I can get out of this problem. Can I pull the seat and manually position it where I need it, about 4" closer? The previous owner was tall and we are not.
We need to move the seat at least 4" forward then I suppose it could just stay there.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Randy

tell you what, I have an old concorde, and I could rip the assembley out and give it to you if you want to pay for shipping. it shoudl fit because I think they were the same thing... as far as positioning it manually, you can, yeah, but why? I say get it fro mthe dealer, put the old on e in the box and go back pitching a fit about their service and get your money back... good idea... lol.. no let me know if you wnat that concorde motor assembly... the previous owner must have been on the heavey side to break it...
