98 sebring DEAD
I just got back from the chyrsler dealership, paid 1600 to get some work done.
The 90k mile checkup, replaced the ignition cylinder, and powersteering stuff
Anyway, its a 2 door convertable, and 2 days after running so PERFECTLY after the dealership tuneup, it just died on me. It isnt getting ANY power whatsoever, I tried jumpstarting it, hooking itup to another car, to no avail. Its not even making that clicking noise when you turn the key. No dash lights, the electrical key unlock/lock isnt working, when I turn the key in the door it only unlocks that door, it doesnt unlock both when turned twice like it normally would. Its just like dead. Whats up?
Im going to get it towed to the dealership tomorrow, but just wondering, looking, for some chime ins here, some suggestions.

Ya, so it was just a dead battery.
I was under the impression if it were just a battery, the starter still would have made that clicking sound when you try to start up a car. But nope.
And through the darkness of the night... I didnt realize... The possitive (I think it was the positive charge point anyway) jump point has a nice little plastic red cap on it. I didnt realize that was some plastic capping that needed to be removed. Hah.
+1 point for me.

A good reason to carry a flashlight.
The specific type of failure is what will cause the starter relay to click. In your case, the battery probably died from an internal short that completely drained it of energy. When the starter relay clicks, it means the battery doesn't have enough amps stored up to get the starter going but it does have enough amps to get the starter relay moving. Glad you got it figured out and fixed.
