Default Can I use a 2005 2.7L in a 2001 ????

I would like to know what needs to be done to use a 2005 2.7L with an "R" in the VIN number in my 2001 2.7L. I've heard the wiring harness, intake , exhaust and flywheel. But have not heard any more specifics.

I will post pictures of the swap. I picked up the 2005 2.7L engine. The first difference in the manifold. The 2005 doesn't have an EGR set of tubes. It has a cover over the two tube inlets. The 2005 didn't come with any accessories so the flywheel will get transferred over from the 2001 and I can't compare the two. The A/C on the 2001 was intermittent so I got the 2005 compressor. The clutch was bigger on the 2005 so a new accessory belt will be in order.

I did a swap with my 01 and I put in one from an 04. I had to change the flywheel ,rear exhaust manifold, camtone ring which is on the front head, injectors 01 has non flex fuel injectors, the 02 sensors have a differant plug, and had to use the the 01 upper intake, and engine wiring harness.

Just want to say that I just finished an engine swap 2.7 from a 2004 to 2001. Just got it running and everything works fine. I had to swap the rear exhaust manifold, egr valve, upper intake, engine harness, knock sensor, flexplateand cam sensor ring which is located on the front camshaft sprocket. It is also called the camtone wheel. The reason for changing all this is because of the differant controller. The 04 has the NGC and the 01 has SBEC. So anyways it does work and if anyone needs any info please contact me at rjasp2000@yahoo.com

I also had to change my injectors. the 01 has non flex fuel injectors and the 05 has flex fuel injectors. My car ran fine with the flex fuel injectors but I had and engine lite with codes that read bank 1 and 2 to rich. I failed emission inspection so I put he 01 injector in and everything was fine. If I can help in anyway call me or email 413-786-6615 My name Russ

I was having computer problems last night when I copyed and pasted the last 2 posts. So anyways the post that was at 9.29 was what I posted in the forum when I finished my engine swap. The next post was after the swap and I had the engine light to rich. Just wanted to make this clear. thanksRuss
