Hi,
I am hoping someone can help, since I'm going to lose my mind over this car issue soon! I have a used 2005 Chrysler Sebring, with about 41K on it. Durng the summer, it would losepower, and go into limp mode. I would stop and either put the car in park and shift back to drive or shut it down and restart, and it would be fine. I had it checked out, and they said it was the TPS and that it would be about $600 to fix. I called my regular mechanic and he said he never heard of this being an issue before. Months go by and the car is fine. But now, it is happening more and more, and twice the code P0068 comes up. The check engine light comes on and then it disappears.
I'm at a loss as to what to do and who to believe and I really don't have the money to sink into the car for a repair that it might not need or might not be correct. Looking around the forum, it looks like this is a common problem,is there a quick, simple, and cheap fix or do I need to spend the $600? I've read in other forums it could be a selenoid that is bad.

Symptom:

First, check for vacuum leaks. All hoses must be pliable, flexible, and connected. Check for gasket leaks at all manifold connections including EGR valve and heads.

Second, try this link. It goes to an Autozone repair site for TPS testing. (You may have to create an account with Autozone in order to get there, but it's free.)

A new TPS is about $100, but getting it set correctly may present a challenge. Even with a lot of trial and error it's better than $600, and you can always go and have it adjusted by a pro after you install it.

And if the test proves good, then Chrysler Tech's MAP sensor is probably to blame for the problem.
