Default Do I have a factory alarm on my 2005 Sebring?

Hi everyone.

This question concerns a 2005 Sebring Sedan 2.7 V6
To the right of my stereo (factory installed) I have a red lamp that flashes whenever the car is turned off (I don't have to lock the car for it to start flashing).
When I first got the car I figured that it may be some kind of alarm.
However, I've tried to set it off but haven't been able to nor can I find anything about an alarm in the instruction book.

So now I'm wondering if the light is put there just to look like an armed alarm?

Is there any way to test or to see if it really is an actual alarm installed in my car?

Thankful for any tips.
Regards
Roger

If it's a factory alarm, the red flashing light should be in the instrument cluster. If you want to test it, lock the doors electrically, either with the remote or the electrical lock button on the door, but leave the window open. Give it about a minute to arm itself, then reach in and open the door through the open window. That should set it off.

I rolled down the driver window, turned the car off, locked it with the remote and left it for about 5-10 minutes.
When I got back I reached in to open the door from the inside and was ready for all hell to break loose when the alarm set off....

However, nothing happened.
I didn't have an alarm in my car so I guess the small red flashing light is only put there to make the impression that an alarm is activated.

Would've been nice to have an alarm but at least now I know.

Thanks dcotter for telling me how to test to see if I had one or not.

Could be that your car has an aftermarket alarm of some type but it's not wired up properly or otherwise not working. Nevertheless, there's some deterrent value to a red flashing light on the dash.

For the past 5 years on my 04 WRX, I have had the alarm turned off, and never had any flashing lights after I closed and locked the door looking in the window, there is nothing flashing. Now, all of a sudden, after the dealer had the car for an unrelated repair, when I turn off the alarm, it does that 2-flash valet mode thing. I dont want it to flash at all Can anyone help me out? Thanks

Try locking the car manually, not electrically, that is, not using the electric locking switches in the car or the remote. Usually (not sure about your WRX), that will lock the car without arming the alarm system.

Given the current situation with Chrysler I was wondering if they will be there with test rides? I hope they are.
