Default Double din radio (& speaker phone) in '96-'00 Sebring convertible?

1) Anyone modified their dash to fit a double Din radio? Actually I just want to get a Bluetooth radio for speaker phone and BT streaming of all audio from our Android Smart phones (XM, Pandora, Aubible etc.)

2) If you use a speaker phone in your convertible:
a) How is the 'top up' sound quality for you and other person?
b) 'Top down' ?

I read somewhere that this car a has a one and a half din radio. Crutchfield fitment software goes to single din.
Double din I believe is 4"tall. This radio is 3" tall.

I pulled the bezel and radio to see what was back there space wise. Getting a 4" high double Din into the 3" available would be very hard due to the steel frame about 4" deep that is about 3"high. But worse is that on the bottom, you'd be lucky to create 3/8". Leaving 3/4" to be created at the top. The top of the bezel curves quickly away from the mounting surface, so the top of the bezel would need to be cut vertically thru the bezel to gain 3/4". This would mean cutting the top of the bezel off. I do not think that cut up look would be worth it.

I think I'll look at a single DIN unit with an adapter that includes a small pocket/slot below. Metra kit 99-6000 on amazon for $9.95
