If you lock the car by manually pushing down the mechanical lock buttons (not the electrical switch) the doors should be locked but the alarm is not armed. Verify by watching the light on the dash.

The factory alarm is armed on my 98 Sebring and the car won't start. I don't have the remotes and I need to get rid of the alarm. Don't need it. That's what low jacks for.
