Default MIL & Security Light 2008 Sebring

Hello, I am kinda new to this. So please be patient.
After getting back in my 2008 Chrysler Sebring, the Malfunction Indicator Light came on, stayed on and them halfway home, a little solid red light came on above the 60 mph. It only stayed on for a second and back off. Never came back on. Cut the car off, waited 15 minutes, started it back up and Malfunction light is still there, Car appears to be running fine and has been. I am assuming the red light was a security light? What does one have to do with the other>

Please any advice or solutions would be most welcome and appreciated

There are hundreds of possible malfunctions that can cause the MIL to come on. The only way to know what the problem is will be to hook up a suitable code reader to the car and read the error code(s) stored in the computer. Many parts stores will do this for you for free. Ideally, you will want to take the car somewhere (like a dealership or high-quality garage with a very sophisticated code reading device and have them perform the necessary diagnostics. They will charge a fee. The have to do this because their diagnostic equipment costs them thousands of dollars unlike the parts store type which costs far less but is not nearly as capable.

Without reading the codes no one here can tell you why your MIL is on.

Default Chrysler 2008 MIL - IMRC

Thanks for the response. here is what I found out. I did not take it to a dealer, just an auto parts place. It was Code p0217 and he said it was an intake manifold runner control valve/sensor. My next question is can they be cleaned or have to be replaced. And can it be driven for a few days and not leave me stranded. It has not been running bad.
