My 2001 Sebring Conv. won't turn over
Hi Forum advisors,
OK, I have a 2001 Sebring LXi Convertible with a 2.7 litre motor. About a week ago, I went to drive the car and it would NOT turn over. The starter does not engage - the lights all work when I turn the keyand the battery is definately not dead. There is no "clicking" noise from a silenoid or any other kind of noise when I turn the key - it just won't turn over.
Could it be a faulty neutral safety switch? The car has 94,000 miles on it and runs fine up until this - no problems before this happened. is there an electrical problem that causes this to happen? Does a fuse need to be changed?
Thanks in advance for any advice on what to do.

still have the battery tested. It may have enough voltage to power the lights and other accessories, but not enough cca to do anything. I've seen batteries do really crazy things. if the battery is definitly good (been load tested) try jumping the starter relay. Just take it out and put a jumper wire between pin 30 and 87 (there should be a diagram on the relay case itself). If the engine cranks then you know that you starter circuits are at least functioning. Start there and see.

Johnny, thanks. I know what you mean about the battery, so I'll try - but i don't think that's it. Wheres the relay located in the car? When you say "Pin", where are these pins located?In a box under the hood or inside the car?
Please let me know - and thanks so much.

when you pull the starter relay from the engine compartment fuse box look on the side of it there will be a diagram of the pins (tabs) with numbers stick a wire or paper clip between the female end (fuse box itself) of numbers 30 and 87.&\\;nbsp\\;

thats a good idea chomp, but if i may,Iwould try prying the cover off the relay.the push the contacts together.if it cranks you know its not the battery or starter.jumpimg the wrong terminals is scary! moe

Having the same issue with my 96 Sebring convertible. Took it in today and they tested everything, battery, starter, alternator, etc and discovered it was the ignition switch. They said they have had this issue with MANY Chryslers.
