Angry My Sebring 98' is annoying me bc of this!!!!

I bought a 98' 6 cyn. Chrysler Conv. Sebring a year ago now. The noise that it does now was not as bad before. Now, its to the point were it actually frustrates me!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Sebring locks the doors automatically after I start driving. When doors are open it goes a ding noise so you know. Well now its doing the ding noise like non stop!!!!!!! & where the mileage shows, it changes to "door" "door" saying that the door is ajar but its not! So I reclose the door but it continues saying "door", does the ding noise & the clicking noise to lock the doors. It repeats this non stop & its so frustrating. It doesnt do it like every time I turn my car & I drive it. It does it for example today in the morning no, later in the evening yes. IDK why its doing this. Does anyone know how I can stop it!?!?! At night when I have the lights on to drive its more frustrating. Since I have the lights on, the lights on my dashboard are also on. So when my car starts doing the ding noise & locking the light from the doors & the back start flashing like crazy (looks like there's a party going on in my car!!)

Please help!!

a bad door latch or a door needs to be adjusted to make a tight fit.

The body control module thinks a door is ajar. The door ajar switch is part of the door lock motor in the latch. Whether the latch is defective or just out of adjustment is hard to tell from here.

You may also need to look at the door hings. Most often the case the hinges wear out, door switch then gets out of adjustment. And the switch generally needs changing by then too from corrosion setting in keeping contacts dirty.

I'd first change the switches then check the door alignment to see if hing/s are shot.

Had to change both switches on mine and the drivers door hings, upper and lower to straighten out things.

Good luck with them, let us know what you find?
