Default O2 sensor and heat shield questions

When I got got my 04 Sebring Sedan 2.7 this past July it had a code for the 2/2 O2 sensor, don't remember which code but it might have been P0159. I put in an new sensor and all has been fine, although I've only driven it a few hundred miles since then (it's not my only car).

Today I got Code P0159. But the O2 sensor (Bosch) is only 3 months old, so what else could the problem be?

Also, While staring under the hood, I thought I'd take out the 2/1 sensor, just to see the condition. My O2 sensor socket won't go deep enough to remove it unless I remove the heat shield over the exhaust manifold. It has 4 bolt ends sticking up through it. 3 have normal 13mm hex nuts which came off easily. But the one to the passenger/rear of it, was not a nut. It looks like a rectangular metal thing, almost like the bolt would be removed from the other side, which is not possible since the other side is not exposed. Also, with the 3 nuts off, the heat shield did not seem loose, not even on the side away from the rectangular thingy still holding that corner.

So, how does this heat shield come off?

That "rectangular" thing is a welded in "nut" and you have to remove that last bolt from underneath. Then the shield will come off.

Instead of just saying that a particular brand doesn't work well, it would be helpful to list the brands you believe work better with Chrysler products.

The brand that Pep Boys carries is best aftermarket O2 i've used so far. Those Bosch O2 sensors are garbage. 3 months is about average, although i've seen some with dead heaters right out of the box. Watch that rear bank downstream harness, it gets a little close to the exhaust manifold if you don't teather it just right. I think there are 2 small bolts on the sides of that heat shield. If you knock the top off the old sensor you won't have depth issues anymore

TNtech, I looked on the Pep Boys website and the brand of O2 sensor they stock for the Sebring is the Bosch.

I got the code, or other ones like P0158 or P0175 or P2099, about once a day or so, each time using my scanner to clear it.

Then I remembered reading, while searching for info about the use of Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas, that it sometimes causes spurious codes. My codes happened during a tank of gas into which I had added MMO.

Finished that tank, filled up, have not had any codes since.
