Question Rear Suspension Questions

Warm outside, in the 60's-70's. For the car it means time to sing it out - with a pretty annoying squeak from the rear (suspension?) It was not that pronounced in the cold weather, although started to appear after 10-20 minutes of driving... maybe as parts got warmed up? I don't recall hearing it the first two years I owned the car but last year it was obvious. When I had five people in the car one time, it was quite the creaking sound.

Asked two different mechanics last year about the noise but they could not replicate it during test drives. One of them did lube and tighten suspension components where possible. As far as the noise goes, that did not do it. Hmm...

I do know that my rear strut mount plates have deteriorated substantially even though one was replaced just three years / 30K miles ago. (The car has lived in Michigan and Ohio most of its 102K mile life which only expedited corrosion.) And I do not know if shocks were ever replaced - probably not. I wonder if that has anything to do with the noise.

Any suggestions re: noise and/or shock replacement?
