Default Starter keeps blowing fuse 97 Convert.

Original starter lasted until January, 2005. Car wouldn't turn over. Replaced started and worked fine for about 6 months. Then same problem. Blows the 20 amp fuse. They replaced the started because it was under warranty, and said it was a bad one. Yesterday, same problem again! When I replace the fuse, I can hear a click then nothing. No warning any of the three times. Just turn the key and it's dead. Anyone else have this problem?[&:]

yes actually we had the same problem on out 98 at about 110k miles... I don't know how much you know about all of this, but on the starter, you have a (+)positive, (-) negative, and a remote wire... the remote tells the starter to engage... what happens is the remote finds a ground somewhere in that bunch of wires, and shorts the starter fuse... breaking the circuit... Get the wiring schematic for the ignition system and run a new remote wire for the starter... it's actually a very common problem.... I'm just here to save you $300 buy doing ti yourself... you'll need about 3 feet of 16G wire, and some spade connectors... if you need any help feel free to message me... my email is rick_ctsi@yahoo.com if you can't get me here... and if need be, I can give you my number and walk you through it...
