transmission problems
I have a 99 Chrysler Sebring LXi and today of all days, the day after I got an oil change, fuel system cleanse and internal engine cleanse. I found out that something is wrong with my transmission. It started after I left the gas station for getting coffee. It felt like it was pulling or struggling to pick up speed. Then I looked at my speedometer and saw that it was not moving. I panicked and took it to the nearest shop and the guy said that maybe the transmission was going out. He drove it and checked the transmission fluid which was full and used the computer system where a code beginning with the letter P came up and it said that it was a transmission malfunction. On my way to take it to a specialist, the car shut completely off and did not start back up until maybe two hours later after the tow truck man picked it up. PLEASE HELP!!!

RE: transmission problems
my 1998 had the tranny redone at like 120,000 miles and whenever i get off an on ramp and slow down from like 80 to 40 real quick it downshifts real hard. my buddies dad worked for chryslers tranny plant and said all those trannies are junk! i guess par for the corse with chrysler

RE: transmission problems
hey, we had a similar problem with our 98 JXI... turns out, there are some bearings that keep the timing belt tense on the engine itself, those blew out and locked the engine up.. it started back up but ran like ****, so we ended up blowing it up trying to get it home. How many miles are on your car? and on the note of transmissions, I have gone through 4 and 2 engines... they're crap... lol... I would bet it's all going out... there are a bunch of new and slightly used engine/tranny combos up in dallas/ft. worth area for reasonably cheap... you might check into a new engine and everything.. let me know if you need any numbers

RE: transmission problems
yeah, it means you need to pay $2500 to get your tranny overhauled, or you need to contact a salvage yard for a new one, and then find someone dumb enough to drop it for a reasonable price... That transmission uses a series of (basically) rubber bands to shift the gears... Have you been running it low on fluid? Running it hard? Same questions the dealer is gonna ask you... Don't even mess with them... get the book, find a new tranny, drop it yourself... should take you 2 days if you work non-stop... That thing is gonna go out on you pretty soon here, so you need to do something fast... I got the same codes on my first 2 trannys, then I just knew what was happening... wait about a week, and then.... (Makes the sound of an explosion, using hand gestures and all) Sorry dude...
