Something sounds fishy......Remember that the dealer makes MORE money on service and repair, then they do on the sale of a car. And parts that are used, dirty, but works perfectly fine, to you and me, may be WAY out of tolorance to the mechanic who wants to make a buck. In other words, just because your new car gets dirty, doesnt mean you need a paint job. First, if the plugs are original...replace them, with a good platinum plug (NGK G-power #7090) is a good choice. You need to check the resistance of the plug wires to see if they are OK. If the resistance if fine, dont waste money on wires. The PCM replacement throws me for a loop 'cause that wasnt even suspect to begin with. Either go get a code scanner of your own (about $90.00) or find a place that can do it for cheap, and compare it to what your dealer got. Nothing makes me more MAD then a mechanic that tries to take advantage of someone who needs a car to go to work to pay the mechanic who fixed it in the first place.

Ok, so I bit the bullet and had the dealer do the work. I had a coupon and got the total "down" to around $1200. They changed the plugs, plug wires, re programmed the PCM and replaced front wheel bearings. I know I got ripped pretty bad, but on the upside the car is quiet and runs better than it ever has. Probably could have saved a few hundred at an independant. Bottom line is, I couldnt have fixed the car myself. I have driven the heck out of the car for 2 years with out any problems, so I guess it was time to pay up. Thanks for the help and input Oddman.

Cool....ain't nothin' like a car that runs as it should.....at any price. It's like keeping yourself healthy, sometimes you got to go to the doctor, and sometime they tell you stuff you don't want to hear, but in reality, you deal with it, and learn, now "You are the better Man".
