Default Weird Electrical issue Need Help!

Hi
I have a 96 sebring jk convertable
I am having a electrical issue that cannot seam to be found by a shop, it will just flat die then usually restarts seconds later. sometimes it starts right away, then other times it takes a few tries. it will sit an Idle for hours on end and never die, the last shop that looked at it let it idle for 2 days and it never died. it dies moe often on the highway, but even that there seams to be no ryme or reason. we have pushed and checked the wiring harness over and over trying to find a loose connection. it does seam like it could be related to somthing to getting hot

i would likley bet it's a crank position sensor. it's a aprox $50 part? located by themetal egr tube by the thermostatit scrws into the bell housing. thisis verly likle the case especailly if it's the 2.5 engine. I had simmialr issues and it seemed to get progressivley worse starting at times.

Like you said sometimes it would re-start immedaiatly othjer tim,es it seemed like it had to cool down ,,,if you waited 10-20 minutes it would re- start & run like normal for a doay or three then wham just die on the freeway, i could coast put it in neutral and it would re-start. other timnes i would be sitting at a stop light & it would die, then start right up but a few times i had to wait 5-10 minutes and it re-started and ran perfectly.

Plspost the solution to your issue, it mnay help others

Might be a clogged fuel filter. It can pass enough fuel to let it idle but not enough for driving. Might also be a weak fuel pump. Start with the filter. It's a lot cheaper.
