Default Can the DVD GPS be converted to play DVD movies?

First off I wanted to say hello to everybody. I just picked up my new 06 300C yesterday and I just can't seem to get my head into work. My 300C is pretty much fully loaded and has the DVD GPS. I was told by a co-worker that it is possible to make it so it will play regular DVD's however they could not remember how or where to go online to find out. I went ahead and tried a DVD movie last night and it just gives me an error. Any idea's?

although it is a dvd gpr player i dont think the screen can handle movies if you added a screen available from mopar i am sure it would play from thier onto the screen
i am not positive on this but i know alot of dcx radios have the capability to play dvd's they need a screen. i know you have the screen in the radio but like i said i am not sure it can handle the dvd specs

I don't think the center console GPS system can play Dvd's. It would be too much of a distraction for the driver, thus the error because Chrysler assumes that.

I understand the legality issues and I am appreciate you mentioning that. I am assuming that is why the DVD movies don't just play right when they are inserted. I was wondering if there was some type of either software or hardware work around that would make it work. One of the interesting conversations that I have had lately is the legality of the many different "in-dash" DVD movie players with the built in screen. I would think that if there were a federal law that prohibited them then they wouldn't be able to sell them. I guess there definitely could be a state law that would prohibit them however I do know of a few people who have them installed.

Thanks,

Oh and by the way... I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!! I traded in my Lincoln LS-V8 for my Hemi and I traded in my Taurus SHO-V8 for the LS. They were both very nice in their own way, however the 300C has everything the LS had plus some serious grunt. I am also having alot of fun using the gps. I ran a Zex Nitrous 125hp shot set up on the Taurus SHO which made it haul some serious booty but only for a 1/4 mile at a time. Has anybody here set up the 300C with Nitrous yet?

Take care,

Brian
