07 Aspen 5.7 AC Cool but not Cold
Hello all! I have an 07 Chrysler Aspen 5.7 160,000 Miles. Everything seems like its in great shape still but the AC. On an 80 degree day, the AC seems cold and normal. However, it's getting in the 100's here in Dallas and during these days the AC just doesn't get cold at all. I can have it manual or auto-set at 60 degrees or LO, full fans front and back, and nothing helps. Idle or going down the road makes little to no difference. The rear AC seems to be even warmer than the front. I checked the refrigerant and it's at 40-45 psi on a 90-degree day. So unless I am missing something that is within normal range. The compressor kicks on and runs fine.
So, any ideas on where I should start? Would a vacuum and recharge help? I have read that several things can cause this from the compressor not fully doing its job to the condenser, evaporator, and drier all being culprits. I am admittedly a little ignorant when it comes to the AC system. I would really like to be able to do this myself unless its imperative I take it to a shop. Thanks in advance!
