Default 2008 5.7 Aspen thoughts?

My wife and I are thinking about making the jump to a full size SUV. MPG isn't an issue because I have been driving a full size truck so I know they will be able the same. Anyway, We also have a camper that we will be towing. The Aspen we are looking at is a 2008 with the 5.7 HEMI so I think it has a towing capacity of 8900 lbs (My TT has a weight of 7400 fully loaded and we never pull with all 3 of the tanks full) from what I have found searching around. Anyway, are these good vehicles for a family? What are some things I need to check at the dealer when I go look at it? Its already in our price range so just a matter of if we like it or not really. But I wanted to check here with people that own them.

Also, where can I find a build sheet for the Aspen we are looking at?

Thanks gang!

I may be a little biased to give a vehicle review. What I can tell you is that our Customer Assistance Center gets very few calls about the Aspen. I can also assist you with obtaining a vehicle build sheet if you would like to provide me the last eight characters of the VIN number.

we just purchased one with 53K in miles. My wife really likes it. I replaced the shocks with Bilstein shocks and it rides great. If the shocks have not been replaced you will need to do it as the factory shocks only last about 50K miles. Next I will be changing the spark plugs. The hemi uses the basic copper spark plugs so that is why the manual calls for replacement every 30K miles. I also have a 2009 hemi charger which is why I would only consider a hemi Aspen. This is an excellent engine.

Ok so I noticed it does NOT have the factory Tow package. Am I correct that even with the Hemi, if it doesn't have the factory tow package then the towing capacity is only like 7500 lbs? If so, well then that stinks. ha

ChryslerCares, the last 8 of the VIN are 8F151606. And THANKS!

we love our 08 5.7. We purchased it in February and really couldn't be any happier. We have about 79k miles on it and I think the shocks will need to be replaced before next summer. Love the ride, the power and the look.

Thanks for the great info on this awesome vehicle. Its primarily my wife's but I drive it when we're together. It feels very nimble for such a large vehicle. We went on a two hour drive on the 401 and I was getting 21.6 mpg going 70 mp/h. Only thing I noticed was the torque converter locking and unlocking while the cruise control was on, at 70 the rpm varied between 2000 and 2150 rpm.

ChryslerCares could I also get a build sheet for my 07 Aspen? The last 8 of my VIN is 8F140180. Thank you.
