2008 Aspen shuts off while driving
My 2008 Aspen with 71,000 has started shutting off while driving. 3 times in the last month. Dealer cannot find any fault codes and cannot find anything wrong with the car. The car shuts off at the same time the oil light and the anti-skid light come on, steering goes out. Car will restart and then do the same thing, but after restarting a 2nd time will seem fine. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, was an exact cause determined?

Sorry to learn of your issue.
In some cases, a data recorder is installed in a vehicle by the dealer in order to capture the event.
This takes place mostly when a condition is intermittent and cannot be easily reproduced.
I would recommend you speak with the Service Manager to determine if this would be appropriate.

I had a similar issue like this on my Ranger before. Would shut down while driving without warning. I would crank away at the starter and engine would not fire. After a while, it would fire up and run like normal. Long story short, discovered that dust had gotten in to the under the hood fuse panel and caused poor contacts on the fuel pump relay. Not saying this is a definite answer to your problem, but worth a quick look.

2009 Aspen shuts off over 20 times this Drive!!
Our 2008 Chrysler Aspen has a history of shutting off while driving. took to Chrysler service. Doesn't happen to them. Then yesterday my wife stated the car shut off over 20 times trying to get home. The car completely shuts down and steering locks, almost had accident. This blog had the same problem. Was it ever fixed or did they find the problem?? Really need help.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Have you been able to have your Aspen towed to the dealership after it has shut off to see if they can pull codes?

I believe they checked that but not sure. Just told me it was starting fine for him. I informed him sometime the last couple of weeks that the Check Engine light came on for a brief moment. He only acknowledged my statements. Asking for the Service Manage since this has happened before, they were not able to find a problem. I'll ask about the codes. Anything else I can ask about: such as fuel pump, dust in fuse box.....Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I've actually had this happen to me a couple times since my last posting. The first time was when I was slowing to turn from a Farm to Market country road to my private road to my house. Almost put it in the ditch trying to make that turn. I actually got a code from that one. C121C which has something to do with ABS. Odd since I wasn't braking that hard and I haven't seen the code since.
Second time it happened was at a stop light. Just died. Restarted and died again. Restarted again just as the light turned green so I dropped in to gear and mashed the gas.
One thing that I noticed in both situations is that it happened immediately or shortly after getting gas when the tank was below 1/4. First time was about 10 miles after getting gas, second time was just after pulling out of station to a stop light. Not sure how this could be causing the problem, but since then I haven't let the gauge get below 1/4 before refueling. Haven't had a problem since.
Curious to know if the dealer figures out your problem and what it could be. Please keep us posted.
