Aspen pain in the stereo

Aspen pain in the stereo
Tried a search, but can't find a solution...
I have a 2008 Aspen with the single disk satellite radio (RES).
Two problems:
1) The stereo will not make noise, except maybe once every 4 months. Seems to function just fine, just no sounds.
2) Many places online said to replace the stereo head, so I bought a new one. The new one tries to repeatedly eject the CD (that is not in there), makes my dash lights blink, and will not let the vehicle run for more that about 5 seconds.
What the heck is wrong?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery? In newer vehicles the computer in the car controls pretty much EVERYTHING!!! and that does include the stereo.
Sometimes also, the computer can glitch and require a reset to get things working again.
Also, on the replacement unit you bought, it may be that if you installed it with the battery connected that the computer may need to be reset so that it can detect new hardware. Yes, exactly like a home computer does.
Since the factory head units for cars of that era are pretty outdated, you may want to consider an aftermarket one for better functionality. You can get double din head units with GPS and all of the bells and whistles including some with an android operating system that will allow you to customize it and do vehicle diagnostics right from the head unit.
Do you have a factory amplifier?
If so, have you checked its fuses?
The same thing said about disconnecting the battery, also applies to the amplifier.
