Default Back up camera

Has anyone installed a back up camera in an Aspen using the nav system as the monitor? Any other built in solutions available?

On our 2007 we swapped to the DNX7100 from Kenwood, with the GARMIN Nav software, the Kenwood bluetooth interface, added a rear camera and an iPod interface along with the Sirius radio interface. My objective was the rear camera and the iPod interface. Costs were about $4,000 but I really like what we installed. I can enter data into the NAV while driving and the DVD will play on the front unit.

We lost the interface between the Entertainment System in the back and the front unit, but we don't have kids so no big deal.

I am going to sell the factory nav and recoupe a few $'s of the purchase. The factory reverse sensors still work as they originally worked after all these changes too.

My understanding is that the 2008 offers the back up camera and it interfaces with the factory MyGig Nav system. We just didn't want to wait and give up the deal on the 2007 unit.

Enjoy!

Edit to add reverse sensor information.

Thanks for the detailed response. I was looking for an interface that would allow the use of the factory NAV unit. There is such an item for GM models which is basically a "black box" that connects between a camera (purchased seperately) and the factory NAV unit.
I was hoping that some of the Aspen owners had already found a unit similar.

What can be done is to have the factory Nav modified to accept the input from the back up camera. The factory Nav does not have any input capability without the modifications. I chose to install the DNX7100 and associated items rather than modify the factory system and have the original Nav shortcomings.

I took out my OEM nav, and put in a AVIC-Z2 for the same reason, time you paid to modify the exsisting unit, it was bettter to put a better nav system, that I could utilize to install the goodies to take atvantage of a better radio, and I sold the old one on e-bay so it wasn't a total waste
