Default Looking at an Aspen

I'm looking at an Aspen as I have a large family and would still like to be able to tow when necessary. I'm familiar with the dodge brand and the hemi as I have a ram mega cab also.

I searched a little on here and didn't see the answer to this. If I find an Aspen without the tow package, what is involved in making it tow-worthy? Obviously, needs a draw hitch. Does it have to be wired from scratch or is there an existing connection to use? Anything else that should be added?

I can't be for sure on the wiring as mine came with the tow package. I've read before something about when adding the harness you have to get it programmed by the dealer for it to work. My biggest concerns with towing without the tow package would be the cooling. The tow package includes transmission cooler and power steering cooler. It may also have a different axle ratio. Tow group has 3.92:1. Standard is 3.21:1 and optional 3.55:1.

I put a hitch and trailer lights on my '04 Durango and it was pretty easy. You can get harnesses from etrailer.com and I recall that I just plugged into the connectors for the rear lights. That one rusted out a couple years, still ran ok at 205k miles with the 5.7 but the rust was too much. So I got a '08 Aspen that has the tow package. I have only towed up to about 5,000 lbs with either, and both were/are good at towing. I feel more comfortable with the tow package because when towing through the mountains the transmission shifts more smoothly with my Aspen than my Durango did.

I checked etrailer and they have several, here is one for a four flat:

Default Trade

Trade it and get one with a tow package.
FYI : There's a reason why one is sold with a tow package. Wow

I have the 2007 aspen limited with all the options the only thing I seem to have problems with is the chrome film they used for all the chrome on them . I don't know how to get around this issue the parts are kind of hard to find? I have pulled several different trailers with it and had no issues. But my mph is always 60 with trailer on back.
