Default Satellite Radio - No Signal

I recently purchased a 2007 Aspen and I noticed that when I switch to the satellite radio it says no signal. Any idea why this may be? My GPS seems to work fine.

Don't take offense at this, but do you have an active subscription for Sirius? And if so, did you transfer it to the Aspen and give Sirius the new information?

The nav antenna is in the dash, and the satellite radio antenna is on your roof near the rear of the vehicle. It's possible that the satellite radio antenna or connections are bad. You have to lower the rear portion of the headliner in the vehicle to replace the antenna.

I don't take offense to it at all. This was a new subscription and found out through Sirrius that the radio didn't get a good acception of the activation from them so they resent it and it started working. It just threw me off that it said not signal, where before on other satellite radios it would just play a preview channel until it was activated. But at least it works.. Now time to enjoy the it and see what kind of gas mileage I will be getting.

One thing I do have to say though about the signal.. It sucks.. I go under a bridge for a second and I loose signal. What is up w/ that. I have never experienced that w/ a satellite radio.. Now I have only had XM in the past so maybe that is it.. Who knows.. Should I be concerned?

Yeah, that happens on mine as well. Sometimes even driving under tree canopy will break up the signal. Satellite radio is pretty flakey that way.

This is the worst I have seen.. I usually can go almost anywhere except in a tunnel and still get XM to work on my other car.. Ohh well, still like the car..

Is it just me, or does the sat sound horrible? It sounds muffled and severely digitized. I've read others saying the same, and it's due to the compression they use for bandwidth? I would never pay for such cr@ppy sound. It sounds worse than AM. FM in my area sounds way better. We rarely use Sirius, and I would never pay for their service.

Default Satellite receiver in 2007 T&C

Satellite radio signal falls under UHF (Ultra High Frequency) channel definition and is around 2.3(GHz). That being said - it acts as the light wave (which is also an electromagnetic signal but of an even higher frequency). Long story short, all the rules that apply to the light signal apply also to the satellite signal. If you are screened by any object, you will be in a 'shade'. A tunnel, high trees and such will influence your receiving signal very much.

My problem is with my 2007 T&C which I purchased in 2008 from a dealer. About a year later it stopped receiving any Sirius signal (suddenly). Tried talking wiht dealers, Sirius etc and nobody can tell me what kind of an account was originally assigned to the vehicle. No info on the duration, channel selection etc. ?
The dealer wants me to leave the vehicle so they could "inspect it" which probably translates into $100 - $150 just to tell me it doesn't work.
There are no model/make marks on the radio (which continues to recieve FM and AM stations). Sirius support told me they send satellite signal per my VIN and that it was possible someone mistyped something in a database so my VIN is not linked to the correct data ?? If anybody has any clue on how to proceed with this - it will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Your dealership is full of idiots. Flip to page 277 of your 2007 T&C owner's manual, which gives you detailed instructions on how to get the ESN/SID number from your radio, which is what you need to provide to Sirius. Sirius probably won't give you info on the past subscription, as it was purchased by the last owner and might be subject to privacy laws.

Here's how to get that number before calling Sirius:

ESN/SID Access with RAH and RBK Radios

With the ignition swich in the accessory position and the radio off, press tape eject or CD eject and time buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The first 4 digits of the 12-digit ESN/SID number will be displayed. Press "SEEK UP" to display the next 4, and again to display the final 4 digits. Press "SEEK DOWN" to go the other direction.

With RBU, RAZ, RB1 and RBQ Radios

Same as above, except all 12 numbers will be displayed at once.
