RE: 06 Pacifica Burning Oil
Got an '04 Pac of my own with 106k miles now (bought used with 98k miles 12 months ago). Was going through about 1qt of oil every 1000 miles.
On the drivers side of the engine (oposite of the belt)are two metal "triangular" plates (front and back), about 3" across and held in place with 3 bolts, that cover holes in the engine block where the cam shafts ride. I replaced these plates (Chrysler has a new design from the OEM design). This helped a LOT. I now burna little less than1qt every 3k to 3.5k. I also replaced the valve cover seals at the same time but I don't think this did anything.
The cam shafts are on the upper half of the engine so I think the oil was leaking around the seals of these plates and getting burned off before ever landing on my garage floor. New plates and seals was about $20 and about 1/2 days effort to tear down and back up again.
