07 Pacifica w/3.8 4spd, trans update
Well today I had the Pac to the dealer again. Last month's trans fluid flush only helped with the torque converter shudder. Today they updated the computer module with the latest updates. So far so good. No more shudder as of this afternoon. Total cost- $70.00 for labor. Customer service was no help with this cost. If the latest service doesn't cure it I'm looking at a TC replacement at a grand. I can't get it into my dealer's head that there is a TSB on this very issue. Chrysler Customer Service wants an official diagnosis from the dealer(which I have to pay for) before they will evaluate my issue and consider it for coverage. So, thus far I've had to pay for everything, and might have to cover the TC replacement as well. I love the Pac but this is a circus.

No warranties, I bought it used. So far, the reprogramming seems to be fixing it. I just wonder when and if it will come back... I noticed that 3rd and 4th are definitely more firm now. They were kind of easy before and now I can tell where all 4 gears and the OD are.

Update, shudder is back at only about 5% of the time. About 90% at partial throttle before. So, the updated program is doing something, almost enough for me to live with. This isn't the smoothest trans I've ever owned, and the techs at my dealer all agree on that point. I wonder if I can just ride this out till the trans goes and just swap in that six speed...

I put the six speed on my birthday list today. No reason, just because. The TC shudder is SO random as of today that I almost don't know it's there. I've got about 1k since the trans flash at the dealer. Fuel economy is back up to 23 on the highway and the shifts are still precise. Hopefully the trans computer doesn't forget what it's doing...

For the record.. just because a car is bought used does not mean it does not have a warranty. Often warranties are transferable depending on the year. I have transferred Chrysler/non-Chrysler warranties to people I sell to and I have transferred warranties to me when I have purchased used Chrysler vehicles if the seller won't do it. The exception is the lifetime powertrain warranty which may be your case since that is when they came out. Also.. wasn't this a problem with many PACs and the TSB was circulated?
Hopefully they will get you all fixed up.
