Default 2005 Pacifica Satellite radio static hiss

Recently, our 2005 Pacifica has developed an intermittent hiss on Satellite Radio ONLY.

The FM, AM, Cd etc, all are fine.

I have read the threads about the antenna upgrade, I tried to troubleshoot it this way.

With the radio on, and making the hiss, I unplugged the connector for the antenna on the passenger rear window.

The reception did not change at all, just the same reception AND the same hiss.

Then I switched it to FM and did the same, the signal cut out altogether.

Any ideas?

To add on, does anyone know what specific antenna does what specific purpose, is the antenna on the side window for FM or XM? I would presume the one on the roof is for the satellite?

The antenna in the window is for AM/FM. The one on the roof, just in front of the tailgate is for the sattelite radio.

Got it thanks...

I have found that there is a TSB for this problem, basically the Satellite module is no good.

I will post the full story as I get all the details, but it is definately my problem.

If you have noise over the Satellite ONLY and you can still hear the radio in the background behind the hiss, not like a coverage problem, stay tuned.. ha.. and I will report shortly.

Ok, I bought a used module, (not the new one, another of the existing style for 05) and replaced it. So far so good. Just basically pushed the problem down the road a bit for now.
