Does your Pacifica eat engine oil ?
Hello everybody
I have a Pacifica 2006. Its been about 8 months since I changed my engine oil and I replaced my previous one with synthetic oil. I recently found that my oil level is almost at 'minimum' on the engine oil dipstick. I tried to look for leaks and I beleive there are none.
So is the engine eating oil? Did anybody face the similar problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

Same Here
Some fo these do, do a search here and at pacificaworld.com and you will find info. My 04 burned about 1/4 in 3000 miles. My 05 Town and country used 1 qt. in 2500 miles. I suspect you PAC at almost 2 qts in 5000 miles is about on par with my van. I just changed my PCV valve and did an oil change. I am going to trck it now to see if the valve makes any difference. It has with some cars.
I agree, this things should not be using oil. Only cars I owned that used oil were old cars with worn out motors. Seems using oil is more the norm now with at leas Chrysler products. I have heard about in proper machining (honing) of the cylinders when built. Some say the thinner oil is part of the problem. The jury is out for me. I just keep an eye on it to protect myself.

Oil consumption
My 2004 Pac uses about 1 QT every 3000 miles, I agree with the other poster , they do seem to use a little oil. Not excessive, mind you, but I'm not used to any oil consumption at all........I will say that this 3.5L is built like a brick sh**house, and mine runs like a champ......so all is not bad in the engine department. The longevity of this engine is not a concern to me at all.....

06 Pacifica consumes oil
I have a 2006 Pac 3.5L and mine uses oil too. No leaks at all. I bought it with 29K on it and it's got 63K now. I've also used synthetic oil from the first oil change. I've tried a few different kinds and no change. It uses about 1/2 qt. about every 2,000 miles. I guess thats why they take 6 qts!

'04 FWD with 99K+ miles. I've been using 10w30 Castrol Syntec since I purchsed the Pacifica in July'09 with 75K miles. Consumes a little less than one quart between oil changes ~3500 miles. Live in southwest Florida and NOT driven like a li'l ol' lady.

Pacifica using oil
I am the original owner of an '04 FWD Pac that uses oil at the rate of about 1/2 quart every 2000 miles. As other owners have reported, I don't burn oil or have any visible leaks. As a matter of fact, the 3.5L engine has always run like a champ.
At first, I was a little bummed that the engine used a little oil, I just wasn't used to that. But that was about 50,000 miles ago. I just switched my oil change intervals out to 4500 miles from about 3500. My theory was this, I was adding about a quart of new oil every 4000 miles, so why not extend the oil change interval to take advantage of the "infusion" of new oil between oil changes.
I am happy to report that , at 92,000 miles, the engine still uses about 1/2 quart every 2000 miles, when I change the oil every 4500 miles, the oil looks light brown, not black at all. And I recoup the cost of adding oil this way, not to mention the slightly longer interval between oil changes.
I drive a 50/50 mixture of city/highway driving, and I just have always used a conventional 10/30 weight oil as per the owner's manual. I personally don't see the perceived benefits of a synthetic oil in this type of vehicle.
Bottom line: I'm not losing any sleep over my Pac's oil consumption after 92,000 miles.
Sincerely,
