Default Engine cradle?

My wife and I just bought a 2004 Pacifica with 29,000 miles. We love it except it has a clicking or popping noice when you start moving from a stop. The dealer said it was the PTU. They put a new PTU in it (thank you warranty). When I pulled out of the dealer i noticed it still sounded the exact same. A tech listened to it and said the PTU replacement should have taken care of it, so they would have to look a little deeper.

When we returned to the dealer, they told us the engine cradle was the source of the problem. The service man i was dealing with wasn't there yesterday, so i will see him Monday first thing.

My question is.. does this sound realistic? Is it normal? Is it covered by warranty? If not, any guess on how much it will cost?

thanks in advance

It is past three years. We still have the remainder of the powertrain warranty. We purchased an extended service agreement. (First Extended Service Corporation). The coverage is rated at the High-Tech level. Will this service agreement cover the engine cradle? If not how much $ are we looking at?

Thanks again

Sorry, but I cannot see how an engine cradle can cause a clicking or popping noise unless it was damaged. The pac's engine support is EXTRA heavy duty. Parts are bolted to IT and IT is bolted to the unibody. There is no way in hell it should cost $4500 to replace an engine cradle[again unless there is frame damage]

I am definately no mechanic. I am at the mercy of the dealer. The tech told me that there was a spot weld that didn't hold. At least i think that is what he was telling me. I told them that sounded like a manufacturing defect. I called the Dodge customer service line and they told me since it was past warranty they couldn't assist. Now it is up to the dealer. They are waiting for a call from their district manager.

Mine went into a ditch and the cradle is bent up and needs to be replaced. Does any of the warranty cover this? If I give you the last 8 of my vin if you need it.

Lets get this straight. You ran off the road and damaged your car. Now you are wondering if your warrenty will cover the damages? How the hell do you think this is a manufacturer defect?? Come on,give your head a shake.
