Default fuel fill neck

I had to replace the gas cap (08 Pacifica) because the light came on. On the end of the fuel neck is a foam sleeve that looks like a piece of pipe insulation. It seems that the gas cap when tightened seals against this sleeve. It was torn and I'd like to replace it but can't find it listed in any of the parts catalogs. Anyone know what it's called or have the part #?

The gas cap seals against the metal lip on the filler tube. I am guessing what you are wanting is part of the filler neck.

It actually slides right over and on to the end of the fill neck that you can see when you open the fill door. Outer edge of gas cap seats against it. Not really necessary?? It had a slight tear in it and I thought it may be appropriate to change it.

I can't picture what it is. It may be a separate part, part of the filler neck or part of the filler door. You should go to the dealer and get the parts guy to come out and look at it.

Thanks for the responses TNtech. I put the new cap on, cleared the gascap message but it came back. I have access to a code reader at work and we're getting P0007 which is a generic code for "Fuel Shutoff Valve Control Circuit High". Check engine light never came on so I'm sort of puzzled. Any ideas??

The P0007 is an OBDII generic code, but almost none of the vehicle manufacturers use it. Try a better scanner. I have yet to see that code show up on a Chrysler.

TNtech, After clearing the "gascap" light and driving the car approx. 100 miles the check engine light finally came on. We now have code P0440. We are in the process of going through the checks as per the manual. Any common obvious things to look for, on an 08 with the 4.0, based on your experience?

P0440 is a general system failure, which means for some reason the PCM cannot run the Evap monitor. Causes are usually a HUGE opening (or massive clog) in the EVAP system, a purge solenoid that is inoperative or an ESIM switch that does not work (the rectangle white thing that's attached to the canister. The ESIM is very cheap, like 13 bucks at the dealer. Get an o-ring to go with it. The ESIM fails all the time on various models. Somtimes people even get the oriented on the canister wrong which will also set this DTC.

TNtech, Just wanted to say thanks. It was the ESIM. We couldn't properly do the leak test as we don't have the equipment but after checking all the hoses for cracks and checking for open circuits we gambled $21 for the purge solenoid and ESIM. It turned out to be the ESIM. Light has been off since. Thanks again.
