Default Full Spare Tire

I would like to put a full spare tire in my 2007 Pac. Does anyone know if I can remove the compact spare and substitute a full wheel and tire in the spot? Will a regular tire fit on the conpact spare rim?

Good question. A regular tire will NOT fit on a "lets pretend" tire rim. A full size spare should fit where the compact spare sits. After all, this is where I would put a flat tire should the back be full luggage or what not.

Thanks Jamie1. I was afraid I would have to buy a wheel. Checked with the dealership and learned I could get a plain steel wheel 17" for $105. Next step is to check with a very large salvage yard in our area for a used one. Wonder if a Town and Country wheel would fit a Pac? I measured a wheel from hub to edge of tread and it looks as if a full size tire would fit in the spare tire well.

SDHUSKER,
Keep us informed if & when you find one & how it goes. I never liked the temp spare idea. You'd think it would wreak havac on the diffs having 1 undersized tire.

Be careful. The bolt pattern is a five x 127mm (5 inch) and you much have a 17" wheel at least to clear the calipers. The Grand Cherokee is suppose to be the same.

Don't forget the tire pressure sensor, I think the spare has one too so if you remove it (I mean remove the original spare from the car) your dashboard will crab at you

OK Here's what I found out so far. I learned that if you were ordering an '07 from the factory one of the options would have been a full size spare for $192 retail. So, that tells us a few things. The spare tire well must hold a full size tire. The manual says the compact tire does not have the tire pressure sensor and warns that if the compact spare is installed on the car the pressure warning light will come on and stay on until the regular rim with the pressure sensor is re-installed. Going to have to get the full size spare before we leave for Alaska. Probably put the "pretend tire" inside and take it too.

I hope the cable system they installed is rated to hold both the spare & the full size weight.

i have a full spare tire on my 05 but mine has the single exhaust not the duals like the 07s.i am not sure if it would make that much of a difference buy might be.and yes the grand cherokee tires fit to pacifica cause i sold my tires to a guy who owns a grand cherokee.it looked pretty nice on it too.i don't have the TPMS so i did not have to worry about it.now i am plannig making my pac a dual exhaust.since mine is a FWD i have the space underneath where the drive shaft would run thru so i am going to have the muffler i have in the back and place that in that space and split the pipes aroun the spare to make it dual.we'll se how that will work.this would be the cheapest way to go dual with 3.5 engine i think.
