RE: Message (service tire system soon)
Don't mean to sound negative.
Don't you just love all the bells and whistles on the new vehicles.
Chrysler allows you to pay thousands of dollars extra for thebells and whistles, for theprivilege
of having to pay thousands of un-nessery dollars later, to have all the bells and whistles fixed.
What ever happened to just plain transportation?

RE: Message (service tire system soon)
the tire pressure deal is a federal thing not a chrysler thing they were told to have a system that will check the tire pressure so it wont get to low and have a blow out and cause an accident on the road. Just about everything now a days is a fed thing having to do with safety.

RE: Message (service tire system soon)
Well I just got new tires put on the other day and the tire dealer broker off a TPMS sensor. they got it replaced that day and got me back on the road. However now I have my EVIC showing 1 tire low. I double checked the tire pressures and they are all at 33 PSI. My build date is 01/04. So I went though the EVIC to try and re-learn the system with the magnet but I can't get the message to go away. So I guess it wont let me retrain the sensor with the warning on the EVIC. How can I get around this. I have the tools to fix it, but I can't do it until the message goes away first. Any ideas. Do I need to take it to the dealer first so the can program the new sensor in?
thanks for any help,
Bob

RE: Message (service tire system soon)
I put new tires on my '04. Chrysler said my tires are incompatible with the sensors and the only way to get rid of this message was to replace the tires. Guess I live with the message. I have a love-hate relationship with this car - the best combination of AWD, comfort, look, etc. with the absolute worst repair-quality control ever. And I owned a 1974 Plymouth Duster.

How do you know WHAT tires are compatible? I would think that 33lbs of pressure would be the same no matter what tire you had as long as it was the same size as the original.
Here is what the manual says by the way, for the sensor threshold on an 04........
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING (TPM) - NORMAL
BUILD VEHICLES
The SKREEM monitors the signals from the tire
pressure sensor/transmitters and determines if any
tire has gone below the low pressure threshold LOW
TIRE PRESSURE THRESHOLDS table.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE THRESHOLDS
SYSTEM STATUS INDICATOR TIRE PRESSURE
ON 172 kPa (25 PSI)
OFF 207 kPa (30 PSI)
CRITICAL AND NON-CRITICAL SYSTEM ALERTS
CRITICAL:
A critical alert will be triggered when
a tire pressure has gone below a set threshold pressure.
The SKREEM will display “X TIRE(S) LOW
PRESSURE”. “X” will be the number of tires reporting
low pressure. The message will display for the
duration of the current ignition cycle or until an
EVIC button is pressed. If the display is removed
without correcting the condition, it will reappear 300
seconds to warn the driver of the low pressure condition

Thanks CT
One more question on tires......
Same size.....
So tread type/design is ok to change?
I want to go with a more passenger style tread. I will still get truck/suv rated, but want a smoother ride. A less "luggy" tread.

you have to take it to the dealer or a tire dealer who has a drbiii or starscan because u can reset it if have a new sensor but the problem is you dont know which sensor is wrong so the magnet thing will only work if u definately which sensor it is. Also check your spare tire if it has one in it and can be low that can effect it.
